Through advanced technology and clinical expertise, Valenz creates a distinctly different approach to a complex healthcare system. About This Opportunity: As a Business Development Representative – Employer Markets, you'll help build Valenz Health's future growth pipeline by identifying, engaging, and qualifying prospective customers across the employer and employee benefits market. Through targeted outbound outreach, market research, marketing campaigns, events, and referrals, you'll connect with self-funded employers, brokers, consultants, and other priority prospects to uncover business needs and generate new sales opportunities.

You'll play an important role in creating interest in Valenz solutions, conducting initial discovery, and connecting qualified prospects with the appropriate Sales leaders. Your ability to build relationships, navigate challenging prospecting environments, and turn early conversations into meaningful opportunities will help expand our market reach and support long-term growth.

Things You’ll Do Here:

  • Identify and engage prospective employers, brokers, consultants, and other priority contacts through consistent outbound outreach across phone, email, LinkedIn, events, referrals, and other channels.
  • Build and maintain targeted prospect lists based on established market priorities, ideal customer profiles, solution opportunities, and commercial strategies.
  • Generate interest in Valenz Health by connecting prospect business challenges with relevant solutions and value propositions, creating qualified meetings and sales pipeline opportunities.
  • Develop creative approaches to reaching difficult-to-access decision-makers, establishing initial relationships, and expanding Valenz's presence within priority organizations.
  • Conduct initial discovery conversations to understand prospect needs, healthcare challenges, timing, decision-making processes, and potential solution fit.
  • Qualify opportunities against established criteria and connect prospects with the appropriate Sales leader, providing relevant context for an effective handoff and referring potential strategic partnership opportunities when identified.
  • Maintain engagement with prospects who are not yet sales-ready, nurturing relationships and identifying opportunities for future conversations.
  • Partner with Marketing to follow up on campaigns, events, webinars, website inquiries, and other inbound leads, converting interest into qualified sales opportunities.
  • Research priority accounts, market developments, competitive activity, and emerging customer needs, sharing relevant insights with Sales, Marketing, and other commercial teams.
  • Maintain accurate prospect activity, qualification details, next steps, and opportunity status in Salesforce while following established lead management and handoff processes.
  • Track outreach activity, prospect engagement, qualified meetings, and pipeline creation, using results to continuously improve targeting, messaging, and conversion.
  • Develop a strong working knowledge of Valenz Health's solutions while continuously strengthening prospecting, discovery, communication, and objection-handling skills.
Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential duties.

What You’ll Bring to the Team:
  • 2+ years of experience in business development, sales development, inside sales, healthcare sales, employee benefits, or another client-facing commercial role.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate conversations, build relationships, and generate interest with prospective customers.
  • Strong communication and listening skills, with the confidence to engage business professionals at varying levels and ask thoughtful discovery questions.
  • Persistence, resourcefulness, organization, and follow-through in a high-volume prospecting environment.
  • Ability to understand customer needs, learn complex healthcare solutions, and communicate their value in clear, approachable language.
  • Experience using CRM technology, prospecting tools, and performance metrics to manage activity and improve results.
A plus if you have…
  • Experience within self-funded healthcare, employee benefits, or healthcare cost-management solutions.
  • Experience prospecting to employers, brokers, consultants, benefits platforms, or related healthcare organizations.
